Les Misérables
After serving 19 years in prison for stealing a loaf of bread, Jean valjean is released on parole under the watchful eye of inspector Javert. When a kind Bishop shows him mercy, Valjean is emboldened by the hope of starting a new life. Years pass, and Valjean has become a prosperous business owner, politician, and adopted father to Cosette, the orphaned daughter of the destitute Fantine. Meanwhile, Cosette catches the eye of a rebellious student, Marius. The poor Eponine, daughter of lowly innkeepers, secretly loves Marius and finds herself caught between her feelings and the revolution. As Valjean and Javert’s cat and mouse game unfolds against the backdrop of the June Rebellion, each must confront their beliefs about justice, redemption, and what it means to lead a virtuous life.
